Gaming Consoles

With Black Friday done with, and Cyber Monday beginning tomorrow, it is official that the holiday shopping season has begun. If you're looking to find the best deals or best gifts this year, keep in mind that it will not be a cheap year. The hot gifts for 2006 are serious, with the Playstation 3 at $599. This may very well be the year of the next generation gaming consoles with Microsoft recently releasing the Xbox 360, the Sony Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii. But which console is better, and which one should you buy? Or is it even worth it to pay the heft price tag when something new will be released in the next few months?

I think the best solution for everyone is that there should be some type of open source consortium where it shouldn't matter what console you have, you should still be able to play your games across various gaming systems. Since most of gaming is now down over the Internet, from PC's to gaming consoles, it is unfortunate that the manufacturers have limited their online gaming access to only users that are using their particular system, even though the same game is available on various platforms. By opening up some sort of solution to this functionality problem, I believe that gaming would be even more endorsed by their users, allowing for cheaper prices and more users in the online gaming community.
